The bombshell is that important files and possibly film/photographs that the CIA have said don’t exist, are now reported to exist. The source is someone that one of the leading JFK researchers considers to be credible. If that’s your definition of a dud then to each their own, but it’s incredibly interesting to me and everyone else I know interested in this case.
No, a bombshell doesn’t get to use circular logic to authenticate itself. That’s not how journalism works. We have nothing but a story from one source. I keep hearing Jason Robards as Ben Bradlee in the film "All the President's Men," asking Woodward and Berstein, "Where the hell is the god damn story?" Robert Redford plays Bob Woodward in the film. Dustin Hoffman plays Carl Bernstein. Berstein says they're trying to get a list of all of the people in the Committee to Re-Elect the President, known as Creep. Bradlee asks how are you going to get it. Woodward says we haven't had any luck yet. Bradlee says "Get some." That's where this story from Morley is at. We need more information. He does not have the story yet. He has nothing yet to corroborate the source. Morley should have kept this secret and he should keep working on it instead of proclaiming an "exclusive." No editor would have accepted this story. This is JFK assassination research where standards should be high, instead they're sloppy. If Morley had the documents that would have been the bombshell.

We’ll agree to disagree on the definition of a bombshell then.
